Pray for our young people

A Christian mental health group urges believers to pray for children and teenagers, after NHS data revealed a 39% increase of referrals of under 18s for serious mental health issues such as eating disorders. The youth and student co-ordinator at a Christian charity supporting people's mental wellbeing said the lockdowns are one of the contributors for the rise in referrals and ‘What we're seeing now is the result of what we went through two years ago. If you put yourself in a young person's shoes, that was not the normal stage of life.  There are stories already coming out of young people not eating as much and lying to their parents about how much they've eaten.” Also pray for young people as they attend school. This year is a massive stress for those doing GCSEs having already missed two years of education.

Pray for children

Psalm 127:3 states, ‘Children are a gift from God’. In the Name of Jesus, we pray for children to be safe and secure, loved, enjoyed, and protected, and that everything God has put within them of fun, of laughter, of imagination and gift will be released and encouraged. We pray that this will be a time of unprecedented learning, growth and experience for them at every age. May their education come in multiple ways, with rich life-learning for all ages and stages at this time. We ask God to bless vulnerable children with safety, protection, and provision of shelter, food and love. We pray for children suffering from autism, dyslexia, ADHD and related issues. May they be surrounded at this time by those who love them, and may patience, acceptance, confidence and peace overwhelm every fear and anxiety.

How to pray with children

How to pray with children – some creative ideas

This year the dates for Thy Kingdom Come fall during the half term holidays for many schools in England.

It’s a lovely opportunity to take time to pray together as a family without rushing off to clubs and school commitments.

We’d like to introduce the amazing Kingdom Kit – to help families pray at home together. This will guide you and your family with a daily prayer prompt and activity. Everything you will need to follow the suggestions is included in the pack from mustard seeds, keyrings and balloons to smarties and bookmarks.

Also available is our Family Creative Prayer Journal and the Thy Kingdom Come Bright Prayer Ideas for Families at home. https://www.cpo.org.uk/thykingdomcome
