Consider and confess

Through Haggai, the Lord calls His people to ‘consider their ways’. Despite their best efforts, Israel’s ‘agricultural economy’ is failing, because they have neglected the ‘house of the Lord’ (Haggai 1:1-11). In Hosea, ‘the land mourns and all who dwell in it languish’, because of the sins and apostasy of the people, particularly the priests and prophets (who should know better) (Hosea 4:1-11). Then and now, the state of the land and its inhabitants is an indicator of the spiritual condition of (God's) people. Many current issues in rural life (and society in general) are symptoms of the underlying spiritual malaise in the nation and church and its leadership. Diverse wings of the church are capitulating to the spirit of the age by uncritically adopting its consumerism, ‘celebrity culture’, and ’woke’ agenda or even consorting with the ‘gods of the nations’ by mixing New Age / pagan practices with Christian worship.

Justin Welby is encouraging Christians to pray in the lead-up to this gathering of Anglican bishops that only happens once in ten years. He said that the conference theme, 'God's Church for God's World', reminds us that we are called upon to pray for the needs of the world. There are many needs: world peace, global climate crisis, the effects of the pandemic - to name but a few. Please pray that as they meet and consider their shared mission and ministry, that they hear the call from God, and that they call others to make a difference for Christ in the world. The chaplaincy team has developed a prayer guide with contributions by religious communities from across the world. This invites people to devote a day to prayer on Trinity Sunday (12 June) and to continue praying during the summer.

Christian healthcare workers and Covid-19

The Christian Medical Fellowship has prepared a seven-day prayer guide for Christian healthcare workers. The first three days in this resource are: 1) Pray that they step out each day in faith and not fear. Pray that they would call to mind God’s sovereignty, steadfast love, and faithfulness and keep looking to Jesus Christ, the author and perfecter of their faith 2) Pray for them to be the fragrance of Christ in healthcare at this time of crisis, to shine like stars in the sky as they hold firmly to the word of life. Pray for boldness to make the most of the many opportunities to share the hope and love of Christ with patients and colleagues. 3) Pray for the joy of the Lord to be their strength, especially when surrounded by sickness, death, anxiety, pain and despair. USA: Prayers for America and the Elections

What a tumultuous time in which we are living with the most significant election for America in our lifetimes happening a few days from today on November 3. The outcome will affect not only the USA but the whole world.

We have collated a few resources and prayer points to guide you as you intercede for our country at this crucial moment in our history.

Election Prayer Guides and Resources

Watch Dave Kubal’s video ‘Interceding for our National Elections’ from the National Prayer Assembly.

Find lots of Resources and Election Prayer Guides at: https://ifapray.org/

Read Dave Kubal’s article written for IPC Connections last month: ‘America Needs Your Intercession

Use Steve Hall’s ‘United Prayer over America’ – calling down the supremacy of Christ on a nation in crisis.

Song with Prayer Points

In case you would find this video helpful that colleagues associated with the National Prayer Assembly (Terry and Barbi Franklin, worship leaders, and Eric Teitelman, videographer) and I have developed, it is yours to use to mobilize your church, prayer group, or prayer network to pray for America. Several general prayer concerns are attached to the video at the end as well.

As one ministry leader put it, we are "staring into the abyss" if unprincipled Leftist-Marxists who have been already trashing our cities with rioting were to win the presidency and other public offices also. Let's continue to pray and do so with all our hearts for the Lord's intervention and mercy to be upon the USA once again!

Watch this beautifully captured video of a sung prayer for America - for the Healing of our Land - followed by some prayer pointers as we pray for America in the run-up to the 2020 Presidential elections:

Hand in Hand we Declare - Jesus is Lord!

As one we stand... Amen!

7 Prayer Pointers for the Elections

Please Pray:

  1. That we Americans will humbly repent of our many sins before God. (2 Chron. 7:14)
  2. That forces of evil seeking to divide us and overthrow our nation will be bound. (Matt. 18:18-19)
  3. That corruption in political leaders will be further revealed and covered truthfully by the mainstream media and tech companies.
  4. For the many Christians running for office and serving in government to be strengthened in grace and truth.
  5. That all will be moved to vote for life and Judeo-Christian values in our November 3 election.
  6. for the election of leaders who will govern in fear of God, truth, and hating covetousness.
  7. That America will be delivered and enabled to fulfill its God-given destiny and calling for the future.

Thank you for "standing in the gap" for America.

Join us November 8th to 22nd 2020 in 15 days of prayer for Hindus all over the world!

The 2020 Hindu Prayer Guide - November 8th – 22nd 2020

The annual Hindu World Prayer Focus is calling Christians and churches worldwide to take 15 days to learn about and pray for our world’s over one billion Hindu friends.

That period also encompasses the significant Hindu Festival of Light (Diwali). The informative prayer guide booklets will help Christians to know how to pray for the people(s) growing up within this major and very diverse world religion.

Diwali (or Deepawali) is known as the Festival of Lights, and is one of the most important annual celebrations for Hindus, lasting about 4-5 days. While (similar to Christmas celebrations in the Christian world) it has historical and religious roots, Hindus celebrate it by lighting and displaying rows of small oil lamps, participating in family gatherings, consuming special sweets and watching fireworks.

It is not our intention with this prayer focus to disparage India or the Hindu religion in any way. We recognize that both are far too complex and too full of great traditions to simply or easily condense, explain or take lightly within a mere booklet.

At the same time, as Christians, we long that all the world’s people(s) will have an opportunity to freely see, hear and understand the grace of God incarnated in Jesus Christ.

To this end we inform ourselves, pray for and want to support opportunities to make that grace known also within the world’s Indian and Hindu communities. Get your copy of the 15 Days Hindu Prayer Guide now and join with us!

‘The Return 10 Day Prayer Plan’ Download

The Return 10 Day Prayer Plan has been produced by 10Days.net and theReturn.org as part of the 10 Days of Prayer taking place between September 19 and 28th 2020.

HOW TO USE THIS PRAYER PLAN

Every day we start with a Prayer of Adoration. Why do we pray this way?

It’s been said that “A picture is worth a thousand words.” When we are able to “taste and see” God (PSALM 34:8), our hearts are alive because we can both receive love from Him and give love to Him.

IN ADORATION WE:

  • Praise His character.
  • Acknowledge His attributes.
  • Describe His beauty.
  • Worship Him as Savior.

In the Father’s redemptive plan, it is His intention for Jesus, “the image of the invisible God” (COLOSSIANS 1:15), to be seen, known, and worshipped by every tribe and tongue throughout the nations of the earth. Praying the Bible and worshiping Jesus for who He is, joins the prayer and worship in Heaven (REVELATION 4) that continually adores Jesus in this way.

REPENTANCE is our acknowledgment that we are not where He is, but want to turn

from our ways to align with Him.

INTERCESSION is agreement with what God has promised to do.

Why do we anchor our prayer and intercession in the Bible?

  • The Bible is God’s language, the language of His heart, the language of Heaven.
  • The Bible is positive in nature and encouraging to our spirit and renewing to our minds.
  • The Bible is faith-filled and has no doubt or unbelief.
  • The Bible creates unity in God’s people as we pray and worship from it.

MEDITATION focuses on our ‘take away

PRAY WITH OTHERS: In your triplet, or small group, even online, have a moment for a time of repentance (personal and for the sins of our nations), a time to focus on others and the lost, and a time to yearn and long for God’s Kingdom to come on earth as it is in Heaven.
