MAKING THE INVISIBLE VISIBLE - SATURDAY MORNING & AFTERNOON: JONTHAN COUPER
• The hymn “God is working his purpose out” states “That the earth may be filled with the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea”. But the earth is already filled with the glory of Jesus ( see Isaiah 6:3 , John 12 :41)The problem is, we do not see it and we fall short of it (Romans 3:23) . So Isaiah 40:5 says the glory of the Lord shall be revealed ; breaking through the blindness of the soul and the deep ignorance in us (Ephesians 4:18b) which alienates us from the life of God (Ephesians 4: 18a).
• The teaching aims to increase our sensitivity to the invisible becoming visible; and gives encouraging advice on how to live our lives in heaven now whilst making manifest the purpose of God on the earth. Our lives can become places through which others get to know the glory, so the knowledge of the the glory of God in the face of Christ Jesus spreads throughout the world as the waters cover the sea. (2 Cor 4:6; Habakkuk 2:14; Isaiah 11:9). Knowing the glory affects our behaviour as well as our perception; our character as well as our faith. Knowing the glory of God changes everything.
• Our calling is from heaven (Hebrews 3:1; Acts 26:19) and leads to glory (Romans 8:30); Our life is in Him (john 1:4a) – in the invisible God. When God’s glory is shown so are we (Colossians 3;4). The invisible is bound up with the visible; and the visible with the invisible.Let us make the invisible visible so the world has an opportunity to turn to the Saviour of man and the Creator of the world.
