PRAY AT THE GATE
Cinque Ports Prayer Canopy - Dover, 18th & 19th May
For several years CPPC has been meeting to pray God's Kingdom purposes for our nation and for those in authority (cf 1 Tim 2:1-4, 1 Pet 2:13-17), especially for Her Majesty the Queen and the monarchy, aware that as a nation we need to be prepared for the next coronation. With her 90th birthday this year, this is clearly an important time to be thanking God and praying for the Queen and all the Royal Family.
During the past year we have met to pray in the Cinque Port town of Hythe, but in May it will be time for CPPC to meet in Dover. With the current focus on the EU referendum, and with concern for refugees and migrants, Dover has become even more of a focal point and an added reminder of its strategic position and symbol as a key gateway in and out of the nation, both geographically and spiritually.
So from 12.30pm on Wed 18th May to 1pm on Thurs 19th May, CPPC is holding its first prayer conference, 'PRAY AT THE GATE', based at the historic church of St Mary-in-Castro, inside Dover Castle, known as the 'Key of England'. This is a call to all who can help us seek God, to draw His Presence here. Let's stand and pray together 'at the gate' for such a key time as this!
Some may decide to fast during this time, so no meals are being provided, and no overnight accommodation offered at present, but tea and coffee is provided during the breaks and you are welcome to bring your own food as necessary.
Finally, to mark the end of CPPC's year in Hythe, and the start of this coming year in Dover, there'll also be a prayer journey from Hythe to Dover. It will start at The Gate in Hythe at 10am, and, after a brief time of prayer in Hythe, we'll travel into Dover to reach Dover Castle in time for the start of the conference.
